A half-day workshop on integrated design practices and site considerations for residential green building.  This is a good introduction to the issues of residential green building.

Verifier Orientation for Green Home Builders of the Triangle

Overview:
The Green Home Builders of the Triangle (GHBT) program is based on the NAHB's Model Green Home Building Guidelines and is a unified systems approach to building homes. This regional program serves members of the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties, and the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County.
 
Note:  Energy Raters and other building professionals seeking recognition as a GHBT Verifier are required to attend one GHBT Verifier Orientation.
 

 

Water & Renewables

A half-day workshop on water conservation considerations and making renewable energy choices in residential green building.

1.    Overview of basic water efficiency concepts including the hydrologic cycle, watersheds, site drainage, erosion, water collection, and irrigation.
2.    Overview of water efficiency measures in residential green building including outdoor and indoor issues. Outdoor issues include storm water quantity and quality management, rain water collection, and zoned irrigation. Indoor issues include water conserving fixtures and appliances, filtration, and maintenance.
3.    Overview of renewable energy considerations in residential green building, including financial incentives, energy usage, carbon production, efficiency, and renewable energy systems, including microhydro and biomass.
4.    Examples of different on-site renewable energy generation methods, including photovoltaics, wind, and solar thermal.

 

NC HealthyBuilt Homes Orientation
