NC files motion to curb pollution
The state of North Carolina and the Sierra Club filed a legal action today to expedite a decision by federal environmental regulators that would force 13 states to curb pollution harming the state's air quality.
The motion filed today asks the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to quickly hear North Carolina's request for federal air regulators to require power plants to cut pollution wafting into the state.
The filing revives a long-running legal battle between State Attorney General Roy Cooper and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over federal policy governing air pollution affecting North Carolina from surrounding states.
